Sortile is developing a platform to enable the sorting of post-consumer waste textiles and apparel using near infrared spectroscopy to identify and sort textile fibers by composition. The platform also includes data and analytics capabilities that help Sortile's customers gain more granular visibility into the composition of incoming waste streams.
Fiber-to-Fiber recycling is becoming a bigger and bigger issue as the fashion, apparel, and textiles industry comes to grips with changing consumer attitudes about the industry's impact on the environment. At the same time, regulators are introducing laws that demand greater transparency about the industry's impact on the environment - with foreign governments much less likely to accept textile waste exported from the west.
